First of all,there are democrats that also support the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

I can't and won't speak for the NRA,but they say they are working to defend your right to own a gun if you chose to do so and oppose any efforts to curtail your right to own a gun if you want to.

Also,when the U.S. Code was written in 1932,it required all U.S. male citizens to own a firearm that could be used or is used by the military in case of an emergency.

The Mass. State Constitution requires the citizens of the state to own a firearm for the defense of the state or pay a fee to the state for the right NOT to own a firearm.

If you want a gun ban put in place.according to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in 1998,the people must vote for it,not the lawmakers,the people and it must have 100% of the votes to go into effect - that means that just 1 vote can keep a ban from going into effect.

At least 42 states have state constitutional provisions for the citizens to own firearms for lawful purposes (hunting,self defense of self and others,protection of property).

All but a couple of states have changed their laws to allow people to defend themselves in their own home with lethal force if necessary (with limits) if they believe their life is in danger.

Some states also allow their citizens to exercise their right to carry outside the home for self defense and the defense of others in public if necessary.

The Republicans created the NRA and NAACP to protect southern blacks from Democrats and their KKK goons.
