What exactly happened in Conecticut yesterday?
First I heard that the mom of the shooter was a teacher at the school & he went into the class she was supposed to be teaching, where there was a substitute. But now I'm hearing that the mom wasn't a teacher.. So I'm just really confused..

The mom was a kindergarten teacher, but not working that day. Not sure if she was retired, or why she was home.
He killed his mother at home. Then he went to the school where she teached (either past or presently) and opened fire on the kindergarten classroom. Killing 20 children and 7 adults in the process.

What happened? Some crazy as*hole killed a whole lot of children.
If you have guns and want to do a great big psycho killing spree, it's not that hard...
You just hide the gun under your coat, go somewhere where there is a lot of people, and suddenly start banging away...
Our civilization operates under the (generally true) assumption that people do not want the deaths of others on their conscience, and will not spontaneously commit mass murder with apparently no motivation.
However, some people are exceptionally twisted. If you want to minimise the risk of these things, you need to minimise the proliference of guns.

Yesterday the AP and others were saying that base on what the federal agents were saying to them
Connecticut Police and Newtown were saying nothing
Today, it's being reporting that she was not a teacher there
