Need quick contact lens help (how to read prescription)?

I am trying to order my husband contact lenses online. The prescription says that his right eye prescription is -6.00. That is no problem, but the left eye prescription is this long number -6.00-0.75x180. The online ordering does not give me an option for a number that long... do I just order him a -6.00 for both eyes or what??

The prescription must also tell you what brand to order. If you get the proper brand for the left eye the numbers will match.

The left eye is for a toric lens for astigmatism...which I think is a bit ridiculous with that power, but that is what the prescription calls for.

If you don't have a brand and base curve written on the prescription , then it is a glasses prescription and you CAN'T order contacts with that. All the powers will be different for contacts.

Well, prescriptions should be like this: EX:

    -1.00, -0.50 x 085

    -1.25, -0.50 x075

The eye doctor has not written it clearly and i think you should call and ask to be sure before ordering. Thats whats wrong with a lot of opticians these days, they don't tell you everything you need to know when it comes to your prescription. Doctors should write things down clearly and make sure you understand.

The rx you have is for glasses. He needs a different rx for contacts. He has to see the eye dr for certain additional measurements.
