    Scared of what:

    - Planet X/Nibiru is supposed to hit us (but… it doesn't even exist).

    - Pole shifts are supposed to destroy the magnetic field (but… pole shifts take THOUSANDS of years to happen, not a few months).

    - The sun is supposed to align with the galactic plane (but… that happens EVERY December, why would it be a problem in 2012?)

    - The planets are all supposed to align (but… that can't ever happen, its not likely it will happen in 2012).

    - The "end" of the Mayan calendar (but… it isn't ending, its just moving to the next cycle like our calendar does every year on Dec 31).

Its a hoax that started in 2003 – intelligent people figured that out years ago.

Fear not because nothing will happen. Firstly, the Mayan calendar, which is what started the whole thing in the first place, doesn't signify the end of the world but rather the end of a cycle. Much like how December 31 marks the end of our year and thus, the end of the calendar cycle. Does that mean the world will end? Nope. Just the year.

Secondly, it is speculated that on 12/21 there will be a planetary alignment with the galactic plane which will, for one reason or another, wreak havok on earth. This is simply not true. There have been other times when this alignment occured and nothing happens. At all. In fact, there is nothing to suggest anything would happen.

Thirdly, a rogue planet called Nibiru is supposed to slam into earth. Not going to happen. Why? There is no Nibiru. If there was, it would have been detected at least 10 years ago. NASA has made that clear. And if u don't trust NASA, consider the tens of thousands of amateur astronomers who scan outer space every day. None of them have ever detected a rogue planet.

No evidence for it at all.

The so called astronomy doesn't make any sense to an astronomer. All that astronomers predict is a winter solstice. These happen every year, the shortest period of daylight of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. There is a rough alignment of the Sun with the center of the galaxy - this happens every year as well. There are no other alignments predicted, no strange planets, no reason to expect a solar flare particularly - no evidence for any of the other things that people say.

The Mayans were quite good at astronomy for a civilization without telescopes using only naked eye observations - but no better than other astronomers of their time - and are no match in astronomical predictions for our modern telescopes, computers and so on.

For that matter they didn't even predict any astronomical events either, apart obviously for the winter solstice. The consensus amongst most Mayan scholars is that it would be a time of celebration for them. Also they refer to dates way into our future - not the sort of thing you would do if you thought the world would end.

For that matter the Mayan calender only makes sense if you believe that the start date of the calender is significant. The start date of their calender is the date that they believed that the Mayan gods created the world. If you don't believe that, then no reason to pay any attention to this particular anniversary of the creation of the world either.

Most of this dates back to the 2012 movie (released in 2009) which is about as believable as an Indian Jones movie.

Here is a nice quote from Dara O-Brien (a UK comedian with a degree in science and an entertainingly pithy way of saying things) about the neutrino mutating part of the story in the movie, which is the key "science" explaining the catastrophe in the actual movie itself:

    "

The concept being that "entire cities tilt and fall into lava" while the only explanation on offer is the single line "the neutrinos have mutated". The science of this, Ó Briain points out, being equivalent to saying that "the electrons are angry" or "the light from the sun has gone off."

    "

The real question is: "Why are you asking this, when so many other people have also asked it? No matter how many people ask what is 2 + 2, the answer will always be 4. The same thing applies here. Haven't you bothered to look at the answers that have already been given? Do you really think we are going to be the victims of an apocalypse? Why do you believe such nonsense?"

“The Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012! That’s when they predicted the world will end. It’s also when the planet Nibiru will crash into the Earth!”

    Here is the truth:

    (1) The Mayan calendar does NOT end on December 21, 2012.

    (2) The Mayans did NOT predict the end of the world, on that date or any other.

    (3) The planet Nibiru will NOT crash into the Earth on that date, because it doesn’t exist!

Don't you think it would be the most incredible coincidence if all these things were to happen on the same day? Doesn't that give you a clue that it's so unlikely that they will?

If anyone thinks I’m wrong, then I’m willing to bet them £10,000, which they can pay to me on December 22 when it’s obvious that these “predictions” are proven to be false.

The Mayan calendar has various time periods. We have days, weeks, months, years, etc. They had periods called b’ak’tuns and piktuns, among others. The periods are counted up, and, like the mileometer in a car, when one number reaches its maximum, it resets to zero and the next number along is increased. In their calendar, the “Long Count” reaches 13.0.0.0.0 on 21 December 2012, but that is NOT the end of their calendar - it resets the number of b’ak’tuns to zero and increases the number of piktuns - to 1.0.0.0.0.0! The calendar then goes to the next piktun on October 13, 4772.

In any case, the Mayans never predicted the end of the world on that date. My “normal” calendar runs out on 31 December, 2012. What will happen then? The end of the world? No! I’ll simply use another calendar for the next period of time - 2013.

"We are speaking out against deceit, lies and twisting of the truth, and turning us into folklore-for-profit. They are not telling the truth about time cycles," says Felipe Gomez, leader of the Maya alliance.

The impact of Nibiru was first announced back in 1995 by Nancy Leider, except she didn’t say it would hit us in December 2012 - the date she gave was May 15, 2003! Of course nothing happened, and she later announced a new date. Nothing happened then either, and then she heard about the 2012 story of the Mayan calendar and said it would happen then. It is obvious that this is all total rubbish and she is making this up as she goes along.

Leider claimed to have this knowledge by means of an implant in her brain, which allows her to receive messages from extra-terrestrials in the Zeta-Reticuli star system, which is a double star about 39 light-years from Earth. So firstly, how was this implant installed, and by whom, and secondly, any messages that she receives are coming from a star that is about 30º south of the southern-most star that can be seen from Nancy’s home in California. So if the star is never above the horizon, how do the messages reach her through solid rock?

We’re also supposed to believe that the astronomers on a planet around that double-star could detect planet Nibiru going around our star 39 light-years away, and yet although we have confirmed over 500 planets orbiting other stars, including one over 21,000 light-years away - almost a quarter of the distance across the galaxy - we haven’t seen Nibiru, which is supposed to be in our own back-yard!

To arrive on December 21, 2012 from a distance of the orbit of Pluto, it would have to be at that distance around December, 2003. That's over 6 months *after* the arrival date of May 2003 that Nancy gave us.

Of course, if it did exist, and was going to hit us hit us around 7 days from now, it would currently be around 250,000 miles away, which is around the distance of the Moon. Assuming it is “only” the same size as the Moon, we would have been able to see it with the naked eye for ages. All around the world are millions of amateur astronomers, and there are also huge telescopes - yet no-one has seen this thing because it isn’t there.

Actually, something interesting will happen the day before, on December 20. At 12 minutes past 8pm it will be 20:12 on 20/12 of 2012 :) [That's using UK formatting for the date - DD/MM]

If you want to book a space presentation on real science, or to place a bet with me about these claims, write to jstone@spaceflight-uk.com

So the bottom line is - Don't worry, nothing particular will happen on December 21, apart from the Winter Solstice. Oh, and a group of us are meeting up to have a 2012 Apocalypse Survivors' Dinner :)

Ignorance is the MOTHER of all things false, followed by her children fear and torment. This family teaches you that you have the power within to change. Follow your heart and make your life and the world a better place for all to live.

Well, look around you and what do you see? Not working is it. And you don´t have peace within? Ask yourself why not? The truth is you know that what you see within isn´t capable to make this change, or you and the world would already have changed. O, but THEY say the problem is you just didn´t understand before but, now because the stars are moving or what other magical thing is happening, you can find yourself!!! This isn´t a new revelation, just the same old lie dressed up in different clothes!! But, why through out time all these so called ideas of TRUTH keep changing?

The REAL TRUTH doesn´t need to keep changing, because it works the same forever.

There is only one source for the TRUTH and that comes from THE ONE TRUE GOD, creator and keeper of all things. Who revealed HIMSELF to us in the person of a SON, who´s name is JESUS CHRIST.

So, you want answers, peace, joy in your life no matter what is going on in the world? Then read the BOOK OF LIFE, study what God has to say about you and HIS love for YOU! HE gave us JESUS so that we can know who HE is. There is only one GOD! Creator of heaven and earth!

And to answer your question of the end of the world? Truth--not now but, read the book and learn when this will come to pass as GOD has spoken.

The doomsday theory is a modern theory for why the ancient mayan long count calender ends on dec 21 2012. We have nothing from the ancient mayans that says this, nor is their any evidence of this today. The media heard the doomsday theory and blew it up to global proportions.

"Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father." (Matthew 24:36) This means that although people try to guess when the end will come, none of us can know for sure when it will come.

However, the Bible does give us signs to let us know when it is near. Consider these two passages:

Matthew 24:3-14: "While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: "Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?" And in answer Jesus said to them: "Look out that nobody misleads you; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many. Youare going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that youare not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet. "For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress. "Then people will deliveryou up to tribulation and will kill you, and you will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name. Then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and mislead many; and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come."

2 Timothy 3:1-5: "But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away."

These things along with other Bible prophecies prove that we are deep in the last days of this old system, but there will be survivors who will be able to live forever on the perfect paradise earth that we were intended to live on. (Psalms 37:9-11, 29) Survival depends on our taking in knowledge of God and his Son, Jesus Christ as stated at John 17:3 This means we must study the Bible, and apply what we learn. To find out what your Bible teaches, see the following free e-book: http://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/bible-teac...

Also, there are people who will say that these things have always been and things are not getting worse, but even scientists and other professionals are saying that the number of natural disasters have greatly increased in the 20th and 21st centuries when compared with other centuries. The same is true with the number of wars going on in the world. In fact, more people have died from WWI and WWII than from all the wars from 1 CE to 1900 CE. And just look at the crime being committed. Sure, man has killed man for millenia, but the sadistic manner in which one is killed or tortured is commonplace nowadays. There is definitely a tension in the air that makes a person feel that the end is near. If you are a discerning person, you will listen to the Bible's warnings before it is too late.
