Who is your favorite character and why?

From any media at all, who is your favorite character? What is it that really endears you to them?

I'd have to say Nier from the game of that title. He's the perfect protagonist for the story, really. The world Nier lives in and its darkest truths embody the idea that we cannot know the whole truth to any matter and that decisions we may think are black and white are truly grey. Nier contrasts this perfectly, believing in black and white ethics. Again and again, Nier encounters situations that would make normal people hesitate and wonder what the right thing to do is, but doesn't hesitate at all and goes with what he believes to be the only right decision. While Nier is a very static character and does not change much over his epic, he's still a great character because of his interaction with the plot and other characters. He's both ends of the spectrum and it really shocked and awed me to see the guy who'd fight for people just to make their lives a tiny bit better turn around and not hesitate to continue his fight after a plot twist that made me feel morally conflicted. He's a very strong character and I'd suggest to anyone remotely interested in fantasy stories to at least watch a playthrough.

For the writers, who of your characters is your favorite? Mine is my anti hero character and the main character's rival, Liam. Since I already typed a rant above, I'll just leave it with the fact that he's my most dynamic and complicated character (tied with my main antagonist). I genuinely enjoy writing his scenes, developing him further, and the challenge of making a man who has killed upwards of a thousand people seem like a human being with emotions and a heart.

My favorite character...I have quite a few...I'll just pick one.

One of my favorite favorites is Lelouch from the anime Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.

He's just so...I don't know. One of the best anti-hero's I've encountered. He fights for a better world by using evil. Definitely a "means justify the end" type of person. He lies, manipulates, and kills...yet still retains so much of his humanity. He's very intelligent, and also very theatrical, which makes him an interesting character to watch. You root for him. Even when he stepped over the line...I still rooted for Lelouch. He's such a calculating and cold person at times, but you know his ultimate goal is right. Lelouch gets out of situations that are impossible for normal people to deal with, but his heart and oddly rational state of mind allow him to progress through any obstacles. He fights for freedom, a new world, a better life for his sister. Awesome, bad-*** character.

My favorite character of mine is also an anti-hero. I like to write him because of his character change. He is such a good and bad person. He puts up a front to everyone, even his mother, and nobody really knows him. He's a bit sociopathic, and this actually makes him a great leader when some things in my story take place...At the beginning of the story, he would kill his best friend if he needed to. Towards the end, he is somewhat more empathetic and open with people. I also like to write his dialogue. The way he talks it very straightforward. He's concise and blunt. He doesn't say anything unnecessary, so his sentences are usually very short. I don't know why I like this about writing him, but I think it's because I can really capture his character in it. The contrast between what he says and what he thinks is so stark.

I have lots of favorite people I could name here in this I'll have to go with the Khajiit I created in Skyrim. He is a striving mage in all schools of magic save for conjuring. He is going to one day lead the mages and fight in a great war for the imperial army. After all that he's going to join the thieves guild due to the war where he loses his dignity and pride. Then he'll become the leader of the thieves and in doing so he'll regain his dignity and pride in the process he'll realize that somehow he became the Dragonborn of Legend.

In writing I'd have to say it's my main protagonist she's strong minded, powerful and fights really hard to save her people and her world. After saving her own people and her own world she goes on to save other worlds and people fighting like a true savior, She goes through hardships such as losing her father and then her mother.

The Doctor, from Star Trek: Voyager.

He's just hilarious, because he's sarcastic and cynical, but not to excess.
