The answer to number one is definitely yes. I told an assault riffle supporter that there is always the option of the military or police force if firing one is what he wants to do. Who the hell goes hunting with an assault riffle?
The NRA has given the government the rules to put in place that best suit them (NRA). Money talks and money is power. An abundance of money gives you a whole lot of influence with any government. It gives you a single voice with a whole lot of pull.

Actually most people understand that an inanimate object can do nothing without some idiot holding it. Guns do not kill people it is people who kill people and unless your willing to out law people mankind will always fine a reason and the means to kill.
For those who "know" what the N.R.A. actually does (unlike you), they are an organization which preaches the safe and law abiding use of firearms and actively teach ignorant people "like you" weapons and safety in handling weapons. They also represent the interest and protect those who legally own and use fire arms from idiots who no nothing but are not hesitant to spout their ignorance (again like you) from taking away the second amendment guaranty to "all law abiding American citizens to possess firearms.
This "insane policy" that you ignorantly spout about is the "Second Amendment" of our constitution as set aside by our founding fathers, The N.R.A. although supporting it did not write it.
People like you do not understand why these shooter go where they go. It is because they are guaranteed by idiots like you that there will be a large number of unarmed and unprotected victims there. All terrorists will look for the soft spot that will draw the most attention.
One thought for your tiny little brain, If there had been just one (1) trained and Concealed Carry teacher in that school. How many could have been saved. It takes a minimum of 10 minutes for law enforcement to respond to a live shooter incident. It would take far less if we actually placed people in these locations that had the ability to steep up and protect the innocent and those not able to protect themselves like our children.
I for one would not hesitate to send my child to a school where people are known to be trained and have the ability to protect my child should a similar situation occur.
Jesus would think, take the guns away and they "all" will be victims. Why are you not smart enough to protect your children with trained people with the ability to immediately respond to situation like this?

No gun ever killed a person. Just like no sword ever cut off a man's head.
I heard that a person killed a family with a hammer. What are you going to do about lawful hammers?
The NRA simply knows that a people left unarmed is left defenseless.

The gun used in Connecticut was NOT licensed, and there were already laws against that kind of weapon.
Conclusion: gun laws don't stop criminals from having them.
