    NONFICTION SUGGESTIONS

"The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot.

This book is well written, and while I don't like Mrs. Skloot personally, the story she tells about Henrietta Lacks is not one to miss. If you don't know about Henrietta Lacks, and your nonfiction tastes drift towards science and ethics, it is a book you should really read. It's very eye-opening and thought provoking. I would couple it up with Michael Roger's Rolling Stone article called "The Double-Edged Helix". Great reads. Money well spent.

    FICTION SUGGESTIONS

If you're going for classics, the play "Death of a Salesman" is a very sad, but very well written one. "Catcher in the Rye" and "Lord of the Flies" are also great books, along with "Our Eyes were Watching God" and "Fahrenheit 451".

More modern books would be like books by Marcus Zusak, such as "The Book Thief" are also great and interesting. Something different for sure. "The Book Thief" is also historical fiction, so it might interest a nonfiction mind.
