why dont people like emo people?

It's because they're different. People can be cruel to people who aren't like them. Also a lot of people think that self-harmers are just attention whores, which usually isn't the case, but you know people are ignorant.

I think media made people interested in mysterious people & characters. Most of the mysterious people I can think of are a bit dark, or disturbed. In a way that's attractive or intriguing to others. But some kids think they pull it off by wearing all black and cutting themselves for attention. I mean, some of them do have emotional & mental problems. They need to seek help by reaching out, not closing themselves off from others and surrounding themselves with other "emos" lol.

There's a huge difference between Emo and Scene but no one knows it anymore. Emo comes from the word Emotional, so if you are emo you are emotionally disturbed (not trying to be rude), my cousin is Emo, she has (is getting better) depression but she doesn't have dyed hair, razored bangs, etc. if you are emo you majority of the time have the occasionally suicide thought or cut.

Most people don't like the 'emo' label because half of the people who dye their hair black and call themselves 'emo' have no idea what it's like to be depressed, or battle with self-harm, or truly hate yourself. They just want to look cool. The people who are truly 'emo' are the ones who you would least expect. They have real problems, which are downgraded when people advertise them or use them to show off. Not saying that all emos are like that, but a lot of them are.

Those who are trying to be cool and like Jawn said and dye their hair and pretend to self harm and be depressed are pathetic low lives. According to the stereotype that emos self harm and are depressed, those around you who look like you but do those things are emo - without the black hair and rock music blaring in their eardrums 24/7. I can't explain it really. Emo is such a HORRIBLE label to give yourself, I hate that association. People who have all the characteristics of a so-called 'emo' don't want to be labelled with that, fake emos do. It separates them really.

I find emos pretty cool (expect for their political views generally). I know some people like that and they are all really nice people. Where I live I have never seen an emo person get teased.

I don't have nothing against emo people.

If the people are nice, I don't mind if they are pink, blue, or green (or even emo, punk, nerd, or whatever).

Because they act insanely quiet. Basically putting it out there that you're depressed.
