My dog's "liver is up 3 levels", what may this mean?
My vet is baffled. We scheduled her for an ultrasound. The vet did not feel any tumors. She's 9.5 pounds, and she was 12, but she lost that weight fast. The vet took her in two days ago and she spent the night with IVs getting fluids back in her because she was dehydrated and gave us pills to increase her appetite because she wasn't eating much. She said there might be a tumor in her liver but she is not sure. Like I said, she is scheduled for an ultrasound. I was simply wondering if anything like this happened to your dog and what it may be? The vet did not recommend anything for her to eat. I have been adding about 100mg milk thistle to her food and she is acting like her normal self again.
Excuse me... "My dog's liver is up 3 VALUES***".

I have just had this news this week with my b*tch... the one in my avatar.
She had her ultrasound on Thursday but it was with a sonographer and not just the vet. This means that is her actual job and although the vet had a look on ultrasound on the Monday he was honest enough to say that his experience wasn't enough to say for sure. We now know she has an 8 cm mass on the left side of the liver and a smaller one on the right.
I am so sorry.
My dog is over 9 yrs old and she also has back end problems which could also be tumour related or it is spondylosis, or best case scenario both cruciates knackered. Whatever way trying to operate on an old dog when we don't usually get them much past this age anyway is just not an option as her recovery from this would take too long.
Her blood results only showed a slightly raised level even though under further investigation there was a mass.
I do hope this isn't the case with your little dog and I am so sorry if it turns out to be. I know my little girl might not make Christmas and I am having to come to terms with what will be.
