Persistant cough, I can't sleep?
I have been sick for over a week now and I'm not showing any signs of feeling better. I can't get any sleep because I keep coughing non-stop. Cough drops don't help me at all, and cough syrup makes me nauseated so I can't take it. I need to go to sleep because I have to wake up early in the morning. Is there any good remedies I could use for a stubborn cough?

I'd recommend lots of water and inhaling steam from either the shower or a humidifier, but since you want to rest right away and not do that... there are two options that I know of:
Vapor rub, if you have any, to rub on your chest (lung area) and then cover it up as you sleep.
And finally, which you should do anyway, is raise your head a little and keep it propped up while you sleep (do this by putting two pillows atop each other like a stack and keep your head elevated in place while you sleep. Classic healing style I did which helped me somewhat in getting some better sleep.)
Hope you heal well soon.

You need a cough suppressant and an expectorant.
The suppressant will relieve that nagging itch or cough reflex that is keeping you awake.
The expectorant will loosen the mucus making it easier to get rid of when you cough.
Guaifenesin is the most commonly used expectorant. IF you take too much of that than recommended it can cause nausea. So be careful when it comes to that. Stick with the dosage listed on the package, nothing more. Eating something just prior to taking it may help with the queasy feeling. Just don't have anything too heavy. Perhaps a bowl of chicken soup.
*What color is your mucus? If it's either green or yellow, you have an infection. Likely will need to be treated with antibiotics to clear it up quicker. Otherwise you may be sick for a month if not longer.*

Do you have a vapourizer and some Vick's? That would give you some relief. You should ask a pharmacist for some advise. You certainly need something for the fever. If the pharmacist suggest a syrup or caplets, there might be acetaminophen in it already. Make sure not to take more if it's already in the medication you will take. Acetaminophen can cause liver damage in overdose.
