Ok - first of all you're not really doing anything wrong, you just haven't found the right woman yet - I know this is an obvious thing to say and pretty annoying to hear - but also true. Secondly - your friends are right on the 'treat em mean' side, although if you see this isn't you (and that's really nice) then maybe just treat them a little less well - a woman is always gonna want to stay with a guy for a little while if he's spoiling her - even if she doesn't intend to take it anywhere. Try and strike a balance on the money you spend - like dinner, your treat, for the first date and maybe the second, but then suggest more casual things like walks etc. And if she offers to pay half (which she should) after the first date, then let her, or say something like 'no let me get this, you can get the taxi/drink at the next place/cinema tickets whatever' Thirdly - don't stay the night with them until fairly late on in the relationship - that way they will know you're lookng for more than just a fling
