God only helps those that help themselves....?

Has anybody hear of this statement from people that claim to live as godly as possible....Therefore this means what exactly....?that there is no god..right?otherwise why would the needed asked for help be divertied back to being the original person seeking help responsiblity...

    No matter how many times this is said, it is not in the Bible and did not come from God, Jesus or any of the others.

    Ignore the quote. It is a modern bit of nonsense.

    LOL I've heard it. I've even heard people say it's in the Bible (it's not.)

    In a way, it's good advice for most situations. If I need a job, I can't sit on my bed and play video games from the time I wake up til the time I go to bed and expect for God to give me a job. If I get up, get dressed, hit the pavement and fill out applications and send resumes, then I believe God opens some doors and closes others, therefore "helping" me get a job.

    However, there are some situations where I think God wants us to sit back and wait on him and really doesn't need our "help."
