Can you chew on a airplane?

I chew yes but I chew redman so the smell aint that revolting to others. I have never had people around me scrunch their nose at the smell of it. I will be flying to North Carolina in a couple days an have a pretty long flight. I got to wondering if they allow chewing tobacco? I know smoking tobacco you can't but what about chewing? ha

Update:

I figured as much but I mean it's not bad or anything. Just thought I would ask to find out because when your on planes they don't say really anything about chewing tobacco just smoking...

Good luck finding anyone who wants to sit next to the guy with a "spit-cup." Gross!

You can certainly take it with you on the plane. There are no rules that forbid carrying chewing tobacco, just like there are no rules that forbid carrying cigarettes.

You <<really>> should contact the airline to see what their own rules are. The TSA doesn't care if you chew or not, so it is up to the individual airline.

I, for one, would be terribly annoyed if you were spitting into something next to me for a long trip. Grooooooosssssss.

    Really!

And now for the obligatory warning (which you don't want to hear) - - Oral cancers, the type that are common among those who chew, are <<horrible>> beyond belief. The potential for terribly disfiguring surgeries to treat malignancies in your jaw, lips, gums, tongue, throat is not something that you should dismiss. Really. Think about what you want to look like in 20 years.

Plastic surgery can do a lot, but it is pretty hard to craft a realistic looking lip or cheek or create a new jaw bone after yours has been removed.

How would you even know what is and isn't revolting to others? Just because you don't think the smell isn't that strong doesn't mean that others will. You're sitting in very close quarters on an airplane. Personally, I think that the habit is gross in itself especially the spitting part. Be conciderate of others and wait until you get to your destination to chew.

Yes, you can bring it onto an airplane and yes, you can chew and spit out as much as your heart desires. Just be prepared for someone to point out the health concerns from chewing. Passengers on planes are nosy and love to get into other passengers' business.
