Evolution is a religion. They have no proof whatsoever. You might want to check out Dr. Kent Hovinds debates. http://www.youtube.com/user/HovindSeminarSet

Some uneducated fool asks this same question several times a week. Rather than waste our time explaining this to you, why don't you do a Yahoo Answers search on "if humans evolved from monkeys/apes, why are there still monkeys/apes?" and read the scientific explanations of how speciation works?
It's like asking "Since my family descended from Italians, why are there still Italians?" Such a dumb question that the mind boggles.

I would recommend Masters of the Planet (http://www.amazon.com/Masters-Planet-Search-Origin... it's a book about the real theory of human evolution. Please understand that we didn't come from monkeys, we evolved from a common ancestor over 2 million years! Hominids weren't upright because we were meant to walk, hominids walked because they became upright. After thousands of centuries humans have developed the traits we have today. It's not impossible to understand that there were other hominids that are not our ancestors; they evolved to a level, then went extinct; for some reason we developed symbolic thought that allowed us to build cities, form theories, and so forth.

Humans evolved from apes, and apes evolved from monkeys. The particular populations of apes and monkeys we evolved from are no longer around, but obviously there were many other populations and species. Those populations and species didn’t evolve in the same way because they weren’t living in the same environments.
