Gutted for our favourite love-to-hate-her character, everyone thought she was a *****, but in her final fays she was acting in ways which were moral and right. I don't think she was a bad person at heart, just too power hungry. I felt gutted for her. I felt gutted for Deb. Dexter has ruined her. I couldn't stand Hannah, but she was necessary to bring about the new "Dexter".
I think in a way it is drawing to an inevitable conclusion. Dexter, like the Walking Dead, is one of those shows that you can't possibly see a happy ending to. Dexter has always been twisted, and the way I've always seen it the show can only end in one of a number of dark ways:
Dexter dies
Dexter is caught.
I mean, I can't really see it ending on a note that says "and then Dexter realised it was bad to kill good people and went back to just killing bad people until his hair grew grey and he needed a motorised scooter. The end". Or "Dexter realised he shouldn't kill people and decided to stop". It's NOT that kind of show. And in order to build towards a suitably fitting conclusion, the writers need to make Dexter less of a character you can love.
The entire premise of the show is dark and twisted and designed to create constant moral dilemmas for the viewers. On the one hand, he used to be so charming, trying to fit in. But he is slowly being moulded and being changed into a totally different animal.
I am gutted to see the end of the ol' superhero Dexter and the introduction of a darker Dexter. Who didn't cry for him when he saw Rita in the bath? Who didn't get a little bit of the warm fluffies (albeit in a twisted way) when he helped a girl who was damn near raped to death get revenge on the people that hurt her? Dexter has always been an oddly moralistic in his way and I think it's so easy to forget what he is. A sociopath and a murderer, a wolf in sheep's clothing. He only sticks to a code because he was taught to do so...the only thing stopping him from being his hooker-butchering brother is a flimsy excuse he uses to "moralise" his killing, in the same way Travis Marshall thought he was being moral too. Like Lundy said, all killers have their twisted reasons. Everyone felt a little bit vindicated and justified by Dexter's kills because he killed murderers, some of whom were also rapists or paedophiles; such awful people. Dexter is charming, as sociopaths are. He draws people in, and he draws his viewers in. That's the nature of the beast, but lets not forget that he is after all, a beast.
It's hard to root for Dexter now, and I think that is what the writers want. They're starting to build the sort of ending that befits Dexter. It's going to upset a LOT of people who like to think of Dexter as the "Dark Defender", there's a lot of uproar about this finale but I thought it rocked. Such a huge departure and a very brave move on the part of the writers. I have to say though, for the final season I really hope they don't delve too much further into the incest storyline, I know it's part of the catalyst for Deb's actions at the end of the episode, but although they are not blood related it's just so...icky.

I think they should have found some way other than killing leguardia, and having deb do it? A better way would hve been to frame her, call in the cops and let them find her incoherent with her bullet in the dead guy's chest, the guy that she had got out of prison to help frame dexter, and that she might want dead for some reason. Put enough suspicion on her, and the fact that dexter was working at a crime scene that burned down after deb bought gas could be lawyered away. Other than that, I still root for dexter, debra and hannah are hot, but dexter should have killed her unless they are sving her for something next season.

regrettably we are able to maximum possibly ought to attend till next fall for the hot season. it particularly is how they frequently continuously run by way of Dexter. It sucks too for the reason which you wanna watch extra now and notice what's going to ensue!

I thought the season was great, and I definitely didn't see that end coming....the next (and apperently last..sadly) season should be amazing...
