Will a Chevy dealership replace spark plug wires for free?
I have a 2008 Chevy Equinox. A few months ago, it started misfiring. It especially misfires on steep hills and inclines. We had all of the spark plugs replace which honestly shouldn't have had to been replaced in a 2008 with only 48,000 miles on it. It seemed to work better until a few days ago. Someone told me that a chevy dealership can replace the wires for free because this is apparently a huge problem in these vehicles. Just wondering if anyone know for sure if this is true.

A tune up is a very broad term and varies among mechanics and even dealers. Rather than assuming someone will do your interpretation of a tune up, before the work is done, ask for a list of items, or create your own of what you need to be done. Trust no one, not even the dealers. Reason: 2 years ago I purchased a 2001 For Ranger Edge 4 L 6 cylinders (very good condition). Since I mostly do the maintenance work, I decided to replace the spark plugs and wires as the vehicle reached 86,000 miles. Four of the spark plugs, I had no problem. The last 2 on the passenger side I did, as there was no room to work from above. I had to remove the right front wheel, and replace the plugs from the bottom. The six spark plugs removed, four had an id. indicating they had been changed possibly at 50,000 miles. The 2 I had to replace from the bottom had a factory id. meaning they were still the original plugs which had never been changed, possibly too much work for the dealer who did the tune up, and the previous owner never knew about it, although he paid for it. If you are handy, replace the wires yourself. Warning: rather than puling the wire from each plug, twisted R-L-R-L so it comes out easily. Also, very important, match the length of the old wire to the new one, and replace "one wire at a time at the spark plug ant distributor", so you do not mix them up by accident. This will keep your engine's firing order in proper sequence. Plug wires come in diff. lengths, because of the diff. distances distributor-spark plug. Match each old wire to a new one.

Wait till dark and start the vehicle open the hood and look for sparks coming off of plug wires. You see sparks and you know for sure one or more wires are bad. From your description i don't believe it is the wires. Bad wires will make the vehicle run bad all the time not only on hills or inclines.

In the Owner's Manual, spark plugs are in the listed parts of maintenance items at 100,000 miles. If there is special coverage, it would be listed under the VIN#. The best source to contact to see if any coverage can be offered to you is the dealership. If you decide to take it in, please let us know. You can reach at gmcustsvc@yahoo.com. Please have your VIN#, situation, name, contact, and dealership information included. I can also run your VIN# if you would like. I hope all concerns are addressed quickly for you.

2007-2009 Equinox's have a special coverage for spark plug wires and whatever spark plug(s) are cracked due to said crappy wires. So yes, chances are they're covered...and your symptoms are dead on with the wire and plug issue.
Call your local GM dealer with your VIN# so they can run a VIS and verify the coverage.
EDIT: humv, there's a special coverage for 07-09 Equinox's due to bad wires leaving carbon trails on plugs and they sometimes crack, usually on on cylinder #1.

Do some research before you call someone a clown.

More than likely no, but if you paid to replace them before it should stil remain under manufacture warranty. depending on the brand and who installed it, it might have just been installed wrong or a bad set of wires. if i was you take it back to where you had it worked on and tell them the problem still persists... and as always bring your receipt.

Not sure who or which clown told you that but no, those are not covered under any type of warranty or campaign or recall whatsoever. Also, not sure it was your plugs. Very rarely have I seen plugs and/or wires go bad at a low mileage & that year!!!!!!!!!!!! You sure it wasnt something else fouling the plugs?????
