I want my back to be flexible!?

Hi, kristi here! I'm a conpetitive and varsity cheerleader. I've been tryin to gain back flexibility for quite some time now.. I really want to learn how to do a scorpion. My legs are pretty flexible(I have a left split, heel stretch, bow). I used to stretch my back all the time but I sort of gave up.. When I try to grab for my scorpion my back cracks and hurts . My back is weird, I went to the chriropractor a couple of times a while back and he cracked my back and said I was fine.. How do I gain back flexibility? Is it possible for my to? Lol thank you :)

When you grab for your scorpion, you say? Does that mean you are flexible enough to grab your toes from behind?

OK. So you definitely need to take up your back stretching again. One thing is that before you start, crack your back! Lean back far, rock your upper body from side to side... when it is already cracked, it should not crack when you try to go into a scorpion.

Take things easy. For example, don't just start standing up and grab your foot. Start on the ground, with your "standing" leg bent in front of you. THEN take hold of your foot from the side with one hand, and guide it up towards the other hand, waiting above your head. That way, you can concentrate on your flexibility and not keeping your balance.

You say you used to stretch you back often, so I'm assuming you know good back stretches and won't include them. Just take things slowly.

    I hope this helps!

Source(s): Experience, my back always cracks when I bend it. It's so annoying and disturbing!
