Raw bones are perfectly safe for felines to chew on and ingest. It is cooked bones that splinter and can cause blockage and intestinal tearing. Raw bones are soft and do not splinter when bitten into and instead have soft, porous edges. Raw chicken wings, thighs, and necks are the best types of foods to use when introducing your cats into a raw food diet or as a healthy snack every once in a while.

Raw bones meats are /best/ for cats and dogs, after all, and are no more dangerous than what they would eat in the wild. So long as the meat is not rancid and properly chilled from the refrigerator then it is fine.

I have been feeding my cats a raw food diet for years. I get body bits of rabbit, chicken, and venison, which include raw bones, organs, flesh, fur, muscle and so on. Their teeth and gums are immaculate because of the bone, which acts as a natural brush for the enamel surface. Their coats and body structure are simply stunning and I do not regret moving to raw.

Please do not feel bad for asking about bones or wanting to give your cat raw bones as a snack or even to replace a meal in the day, but remember that chicken does not contain taurine, which is an essential nutrient for cats. Raw bones are safe, /cooked/ bones are not.

They should be fine. My cats do eat a part raw diet and enjoy a variety of raw foods. Chicken wings however, they won't eat unless Big Kitty removes part of the skin first. Maybe I have particularly spoiled cats. I'd whack a whole chicken wing into 4 pieces - after cutting off ( scissors may work better than a knife) a swath of skin. You could try really pulverizing the wings into a dozen or more pieces too the first few times. Not sure about the chicken wings and diabetic dog. If your dog is already on a diet that is similar to what is in a chicken wing, protein and fat, no carbs, then you should probably proceed as usual. Better to ask in the dog section.

DO NOT FEED YOUR CATS RAW CHICKEN!!!!!!!! Raw meat is dangerous especially if bought from the store, there are pesticides and all other sorts of unnameable junk in there that needs cooked out, and always pull it off the bone. Chicken bones are especially prone to splitting and a cat could get a cut or choke on the splitting bones

I think the possibility of choking is very high. I would never give bones to my cats.

If you want to help their teeth, give them a good quality dry food daily and some of the tartar control treats a few times a week.

I give my cat chicken legs if theyre not too soft after i'm finished with them. If its big and hard it should be ok as long as you dispose of the bone after theyre done with it or as soon as it looks a bit tatty and as if its falling apart. Oh yeah... raw chicken isn't a good idea either.
