Change all fractions to common denominators and add.

    (1) 8 1/4 + 9 1/2 + 8 3/4 + 9 1/4 + 8

    = 8 1/4 + 9 2/4 + 8 3/4 + 9 1/4 + 8

    = 42 7/4

    Now convert the 7/4 into a mixed number: 7/4 = 1 3/4

Now just add that to the 42 for your number of hours, Then multiply that by 6.86. It would be helpful to use 43.75 instead of the fraction.

    (2) Same process as #1:

    6 + 5 2/4 + 4 1/4 + 7 2/4 + 4 3/4 = ?????

    Then multiply by 5.15.
