do puppies remember who put them in the kennel?

when i put my little puppy in his kennel for doing something bad he sits quite for like ten minutes then like panics and freaks out then when i let him out he super excited and licks me and stuff. does he not remember that i put them in there or does he think he like got trapped and i saved him?

    He does remember. The same thing happened with my puppy. Dogs don't care who put them in their they just want out. He is thanking you.

    In some cases you do have to put your dog away for quiet time if they do something bad. Their sancuary can be any place that they feel most comforteble. If you have a puppy that has no place to sleep other than a crate than you need to get them used to being locked in the crate.

    By kennel do you mean crate or an actual say 6' x 12' x 6' outdoor kennel? In either case they are not to be used as punishment, they are suppose to a sanctuary with the door left open to go in at will. If you catch him doing something wrong and only if you catch him in the act then that is when you scold them, never after. Putting them in the kennel they do not understand why you are doing it.
