It's quite normal for a b itch not to be interested in food for the evening after surgery, when she first comes home, and maybe even the following morning. Mix up some scrambled egg, or boiled chicken breast, or white fish and offer it to her. The anaesthetic often makes them feel sick and even if some greedy girls scoff down food (or water for that matter), it comes back. She'll be feeling pretty sore and out of it for 24 hours. The vets should have given you a post-op care sheet with this kind of information. She will have been given pain relief, but that normally only lasts for 24 hours. If after that time, she seems to be feeling a lot of pain, and they've not given you any pain relief to give her, get some. There's no need for her to be in a lot of pain, much as some is 'good' as she'll take care and not start charging around. Again the vets should have talked to you about this!!
Leave a bowl with some water in where she can get to it. And do get her out, on a lead, into the garden to empty even if she doesn't want to move. It's unlikely she'll need a BM as she'll have been nil by mouth since the evening before, but she may well need to pee.
If you are at all concerned about any part of this (and it is invasive surgery after all), call them. They'd far rather hear from you than have you worry, and things go wrong. If you feel it's an emergency, they should have an emergency number for you. But right now, she needs rest, quiet and warmth. Time to recover. And make sure she doesn't get at those stitches!! I sleep with my recovering patients, just in case.
ps The gum colour - better bright pink than white/grey!!

When a dogs gums are nice and pink they are healthy, its nothing to worry about.
If your dogs gums are very light pink or white then there is something wrong and then you should take him to the vet.
My old corgi once was very healthy and what not and one day he gums were getting whiter and whiter but he wasnt acting any different so i diddnt worry...... untill one day he would come when i called him i went under the house and found him, i pulled him out from under the house and he was still alive and walking around but he just diddnt have the same spark in his eyes anymore..... so i took him to the vet and they said over time his heart had slowly started to stop beating (thats why his gums were getting whiter), by the time he got to the vet he had 8% of blood left in his body, we made an oppiotment for an emergency blood transfusion in the morning, but over night he died.
So dont worry if his gums are pink worry if there white :LL
I hope my story help at all :)

Dogs are given oxygen when undergoing surgery and that would cause the gums to be redder than normal. Nothing to worry about.
