I lost my passport in bogota colombia?

I went to the currency exchange and my pocket had a hole in it and my passport fell out and I can't find it.

I'm here 13 days. How would I go about finding a replacement? What do I do!?

    What's your nationality?

If you are American (since the question is asked on Y!A U.S.) get to the next police station and report the loss of your passport. Get a replacement passport or an emergency travel document from your Embassy in Bogota.

    Hi Randa,

you need to go the the Embassy of your country in Bogota and apply for a replacement passport. Usually it takes between 3 days and 1 week. Good luck.

You can get a replacement passport from the U.S. embassy. They will require that you bring them a copy of the police report, passport size pictures and of course money for a passport fee. They are pretty fast. I lost my passport around 8 a.m. one Friday and was able (barely) to get a replacement by 5 that day. I lucked out, but it does illustrate that the process is pretty fast--if the embassy is open.

Go immediately to the embassy or the consulate. This is a very serious matter and a passport in the wrong hands can be devastating.. Also this is the Christmas weekend and check first the working hours..

    But do it now!!

Contact the US Consulate and they can help. Should be one in Bogota.
