    If x is the side perpendicular to the river, then the others sides are 800-2x and x; the 3 sides add up to the 800 m of wire you have.

    The area is f(x) = 800x - 2x^2

    Take the derivative

    f ' (x) = 800 - 4x

    Solve for 0

    800 - 4x = 0

    800 = 4x

    x = 200

    The dimensions are 200x200x400

    The area is 80000.
