Do psychiatric units have the right to video you while you're sleeping/getting dressed?

Can they have hidden cameras in the patients' bedrooms, that record the patients sleeping and getting dressed/undressed? Is that legal?

uh, no. They cant have hidden cameras. They can record you in such situations, but only if youre on constant watch due to suicide risk. Very very few people who go to such units will ever be under scrutiny like that.

When I was much younger I had depression and suicide issues (long since over them.) and one time had to go to such a place. They document any scars you have so you cant claim abuse based on old scars andi njuries (apparently, this really is a problem.) But even then, I asked if its okay not to fully strip (Yes, it was) and I asked them if they could turn the camera in the room off. Guy said no, but they could cover it. And they did.

    So don't worry too much.

I don't think you have all that many 'rights' if you are committed.

If you have sleep disorders they might find it necessary. I doubt they'd have cameras in the bathrooms.

They have a staff of lawyers, if they are doing something known, then the odds are high its legal.

Yes they can and Yes it is legal if the patient is on suicide watch.
