It all depends at what airport you are at. I know that Atlanta makes you go though security again

At many airports you will have to go to a domestic terminal for connections. You should not have to go through security. It's going to depend on which airport.

On my last trip, connecting in Dublin, there were actually two security points I had to go through.

When I was going to Hawaii we had to switch terminals to get to our connecting flight and we had to go trough security again.
