Life of Pi (the movie) was boring?

Okay so everyone's like 'omg you have to watch Life of Pi, it's amazing, the best thing ever..etc'. I went to the cinemas with a friend and watched it in 3D.

I have to say, it wasn't worth the money we paid. I mean, it was pretty boring and at times, I do feel the special 3D effect but most of the time, I felt like I was watching it in 2D. It was just about Pi, his life story and his amazing survival in the middle of the ocean with a tiger.

I wasn't impressed. Yes, I have to admit that the filming and all were extraordinary. The thing I don't get is why is everyone going around telling me that it's one of the best movies ever?

P.S. I'm not a hater, not hating or anything. Just wondering, I just want a third party opinion on this, so that I don't feel like I'm the odd one out who isn't 'amazed' by the movie everyone's talking about.

If you've watched it, let me know what you think :) Thank you very much for your time.

I felt the same about Slumdog Millionaire. I think it won all those oscars just because it was indian. Not that I'm disrespecting Indians or their movies, but I think both Slumdog Millionaire and Life of Pi had an obvious ending, and just lingered on the story in a really boring sort of way. What I mean is, you just know that the dude is gonna win, because of the title "Millionaire" and you just know that the dude is gonna survive in life of Pi because he lived to tell the tale.

However, it may just be because I'm a more sci-fi and splatter horror guy.

Just find a movie genre and stick to it. Don't watch all the new movies everyone thinks is hot, they usually are not. Watching a new movie is like a cliche now, and nobody hates cliches like I do. I usually wait out 3-6 months after a movie is out, and read reviews on the internet before watching it. Try to not read the wikipedia spoilers though.

I thought the beginning was REALLY boring. It had really good effects and awesome beautiful visuals of the animals and the ocean and everything. I think a lot of parts were so sad, especially when the zebra and the chimp died, when the tiger left him, and when they made the tiger eat the goat in front of Pi.

I am a vegetarian and I think his love for life and animals was beautiful.

I think it is an awesome story, but yes the movie was a bit boring. I would like to watch it again to see a few things but I would probably have to buy it so i could fast forward scenes.

I think the animal story is the true story. The only thing that makes me think the human one was, was why didnt he try to kick the hyena off when it was attacking the zebra? He just did nothing and let it stay on for days knowing it would probably kill the chimp, he didnt even try to get the chimp to go with him.

I think ppl are so closed minded to think that it couldnt acually happoen, of course it could!

I really liked it. Just the visual effects and cinematography alone made it worth seeing. I love that they didn't overdo the friendship between the boy and tiger (which I'd hoped for initially) because it simply wouldn't be realistic. The movie broke my heart a little. I am about to start reading its book soon. I love that there are many interpretations of the movie and that the whole point is to believe what we want.

I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. It got a bit draggy at certain parts and had a slow buildup. The part with the magical forest was also pretty weird.

You needs to read the book to really get why it was like that. It's a bit dull when the author explains his religious choices at the beginning but a lot in the film didn't happen in the book. There was no love interest for one. Its my favourite book and film so maybe try the book?

I saw reviews in magazines and newspapers, and it sounded boring to me, so I did not see it. Many people can't think for themselves, so they repeat like parrots whatever reviewers write. I've seen some people on here praising movies that I thought were awful. Some of them are angry if anyone doesn't agree with them. A boy on a boat with a tiger for 1.5 or 2 hours can't be anything but boring. A 5 minute episode of that in a movie might be passable, but a whole movie with only that isn't one I want to see.
