    This problem is impossible to solve with this being the only information provided. The answer could either be:

    X=3, y=2

    Or

    X=1, y=4

    And there are almost infinite possibilities in the negatives. The point is you can't know from the information provided.

    Simplifying

    3x + 2y = 11

    Solving

    3x + 2y = 11

    Solving for variable 'x'.

    Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

    Add '-2y' to each side of the equation.

    3x + 2y + -2y = 11 + -2y

    Combine like terms: 2y + -2y = 0

    3x + 0 = 11 + -2y

    3x = 11 + -2y

    Divide each side by '3'.

    x = 3.666666667 + -0.6666666667y

    Simplifying

    x = 3.666666667 + -0.6666666667y
