Can I used a Wii controller (not the remote controller) to play Gamecube games on the Wii?

I heard I will need a Gamecube controller to play Gamecube games on the Wii because the remote controller would not work. What about the classic Wii controller?

Sorry, but when you enter "Gamecube Mode" on the Wii, all non-Gamecube components are disabled.

This means that the WiFi card, Internal Storage & the BlueTooth card in the Wii are disabled. Since the Wiimotes (& all their add-ons, including the Classic Console controllers) require a BlueTooth connection, they'll be disabled as well.

If you want to play a Gamecube game on your Wii, you NEED to have a Gamecube controller... there's NO EXCEPTIONS here!

You should have a Gamecube controller with your Gamecube games on the Wii. If you don't want to buy this, then an adaptoe is needed.
