What was a movie that you were looking forward to seeing this year that really was not what you expected?

BQ Why was it a let down for you?

    The Dark Knight Rises

    BQ:

wow, where do I begin? lol

granted, sitting there in the theater I had my mind blown off, even though something didn't feel right, the visual scope completely mesmerized me and took control for the whole time of viewing. only on my way home it just hit me "wait a minute, the **** just happened?" it was all WOW, but what about the plot? - ummm dialogue? -ummmm characters? -ummmmmmmm

just because of that visual action magnitude I still consider it to be the best movie of 2012, but not because it really was.

Batman is boring as always, no surprise there. He's always boring, except for his animated self in Justice League, but here the villain was also boring as hell, besides, you're giving THAT TURD with a ribbon on its head as the MAIN VILLAIN in the end?!!?!!? REALLY!?! Plus that ************* ending with a French cafe or what not, omfg, now...oh man...that's just out of nowhere. So, they have a thing? really? don't you think we'd like to know HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? and let us actually see that and not take for granted on the grounds coz "Nolan said so"?!

Anyway, I don't know about other people, but I like to understand villain's motivation, you know, I like when it makes sense. Jonathan Nolan based the script on The Tale of Two Cities...mmkay, you know, the part when the low classes overthrow the upper clas and tear the City down...hm, really? Not really sure that that's what happened Nolan's script, but apparently he thinks it's exactly what happened.

Oh, Logan, I'm sorry, I really was trying not to think about it. lol. Didn't mean to pour it out like that :D

Doug's review pretty much sums up all that is wrong with this flick, I was really glad to find this review, coz this internet critic Doug speaks about the exact same things that were bothering me too.

    Anna Karenina

BQ: First of all, I love the novel and in no way was I expecting this film to be a masterpiece or come close. It was filmed on a theater stage. I didn't know this when I went to watch it. It didn't work for me. Plus, Knightley underperformed. IMO.

    Hi Logan :)

I agree with Comrade, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer

BQ: I thought it could have been a quirky Tim Burton style movie if they had done it right. But it took itself way too seriously

Snow White and the Huntsman was more than I expected

probably will not get to the Hobbit this year - will see though

"Dark Shadows" (I expected it to be more solid, it was weak instead, like many Burton works).

"Safety Not Guaranteed" (it wasn't a comedy at all, acceptable drama though).

"The Bourne Legacy" (I found this ridiculous, it ruined The Bourne saga; it needed more action, more Bourne and less useless talking; Renner is not Damon).

Definitely! I'll always be a die hard Simpson's fan! Even tho I do LOVE Family Guy, the Simpson's are just like my twisted family!

    Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

I thought it would be treated as a comedy given the silly premise, but they actually went to the effort of doing something serious with it.

Magic Mike. Too much stupid plot, not enough dancing.
