why don't dogs like my husband?
we have found a sweet lab that loves my husband and i both (as it seemed upon meeting at the pet store) anyways, we went to the humane society twice and 9 times out of 10 the dogs just growled at him! could it be his beard? im not too concerned since we are adopting one from a rescue. but why do the others seem to hate him? any ideas? thanks!

A lot of dogs prefer women to men. Men are generally taller, built bigger, and have deeper voices. Dogs see them as more threatening. Most dogs will warm up to and trust their male family members eventually, although they may always be wary of men they don't know.

They dogs may find him intimatating, scary,or threatening. He should try relaxing by the dogs. He might remind them of a previous abuser.
