does the heater / ac in your automobile use gasoline?

I've always heard ppl say " turn off the ac it uses gas!" And that sound

    your heater core is a heat exchanger and does not use gasoline the fan uses electricity and blows across your heater core so the heat will flow out into the car and keep you warm . Its been proven that AC does not change the gas mileage either so carry on hot or cold its all good.

    The only heater that I know of that uses gas is the "South Bend" heater of the '30's and early '40's'

    no it doesn't use gas , but is driven off the motor, so is does use a minuscule amount of fuel. as proven on mythbusters . but not enuff to warrant being uncomfortable heat is free as it's a bi product of the cooling system
