What book should I start reading?(read description)?
I'm a 17 year old male and I want to start reading books, mainly because i want to increase my imagination and I hear books are better than movies. If anyone could recommend me a good book that i could get really indulged in I would be eternally grateful. My interests are like fantasy and thrillers:ex. Lord of the ring, shutter island, inception,Star Trek, Star wars. Something based in space would be cool but it dosen't have to be, thanks.:)
Thanks everyone I think I'm actually going to start the Game of Thrones series, hopefully i can follow:\

I put books that begin with descriptions again on the shelf. Have as a minimum a sentence or two of an motion sequence, then for those who require some description, work it in a little bit at a time.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is vicious and awesome...the american version of the movie was the best thing ever and inspired me to read the book...its a trilogy but ive only read the first book so far...its still by far my favorite...its a book about solving the murder of a girl who went missing 40 years prior..not a true story but it doesnt matter...its pretty long and will keep you entertained for a while and if you like it as much as me you'll have two more to read and you can watch the movies...all 3 movies have come out in the swedish versions which were made first but they aren't as good as the american one and have subtitles....besides that tonight i just started the confession by john grisham...he's written a ton of books im only one chapter into this one but my aunt read it and said it was one of the best books shes read in years...its about a man being wrongly accused of murder and is going to be executed....i also just read a stolen life about the kidnapping of jaycee dugard...sorry if all these themes sound depressing to you...they are still really good books and most of them are mystery/thriller

Keep your eyes out for Sebastian Harper.
This story is of a young man, about 20 yrs. old, who has a secret that he doesn’t even know about. His birthday is on Feb 29th, so he's a leap year baby and doesn’t have a birthday but once every 4 years....
"Sebastian dear, on your birthday last year and every birthday previous to that one, you have lost your memory of the past 4 years. I’m afraid that by your next birthday, unless something is done, you will lose your memory again...."
"But why? I don’t get it... what are you talking about?"
"Sebastian please listen..... Your memories have been promised as part of a verbal contract that your mother signed into.......sigh..... Every birthdays worth of memories belongs to each God and Goddess who granted your mother the wish to have you…all 267 of them…
“Sebastian.... you are not 20 years old....You are in fact 908…”
There is only 3 years remaining for Sebastian to find his mother and his father, then to find the next God or Goddess in line to receive his memories before time runs out and he forgets all that he has learned and most importantly forgets all about the woman he loves, Gayle.
But Gayle has her own secrets....
It’s a series of 4 books, 1 for each of the 4 years of his birthday and the 4 years of college.
It’s a battle between immortals and men, Gods and Titans, a race against time, a travel through history of the world, and the greatest love story "that has not been seen in over a thousand years"
