Help turning into a parking space?

I'm in the process of receiving my license soon and I'm about to take driving classes with an instructor in a couple of days. I'm just having a lot of trouble turning into a parking space! I can never position the car straight enough on the first try and I constantly have to back up and try again until the car is even with the lines on the ground. I guess I need to know when to turn the wheel at the perfect time so that I can slide into the lot pretty straight. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I don't know if this will help but when I'm driving my dads truck, it's a monster and a bit** to park. Some techniques I use is get close to the opposite side of the parking spot (so if your turning left into the spot stay to the right) this makes it easier cuz it gives u a little more space to park I guess. U don't want to hug the same side as the spot cuz you probably won't make it in without side swiping the car next to you. Also about making it straight, sometimes I have to open the door a little to line it up with the line. If your lucky there will be a shiny car next to you that you can see your reflection in and see if your straight and all the way in. But ya that's how I do it. Basically as long as you don't hit the cars next to you, you'll pass. Good Luck!
