Should school officials conceal and carry?
I have seen a lot of discussion about this both here and in other media sources. I really have one question. Would it be fair to assume that a teacher or school administrator who does have a concealed weapon would take action to stop a shooter? Think about the CT scenario for a second if you are a teacher who has been trained to carry a concealed weapon but has no military, law enforcement, or security experience or training. Are you going to directly confront the guy with at least an assault rifle and another gun with whatever handgun you are concealing or are you going to sit back and use your gun as a last defense? My guess is that most of us would sit back and use our gun as a last defense rather than go into a situation where you are clearly outgunned and really have little chance of stopping this guy.
Hope:
What are your odds if you are armed with say a 9mm handgun against someone with an assault rifle, potentially body armor, and probably other weaponry? I give you that your odds are not zero, you might get lucky, but they definitely are not good.
Nasty,
I know enough to know that going out in the hallway and opening fire is an almost sure way to get yourself killed and not do anything to stop this person.

There are too many fallacies in your question to address in their entirety, but first of all, any school officials allowed to carry a gun on campus would be required to go through concealed carry training and know how to use their weapon effectively. IF the official chose to bring a gun to school, why would you think they would not be willing to use it... That's weird thinking. You refer to the CT scenario... There were UNARMED teachers and the principal that confronted the shooter, so wouldn't you think it even more likely that an armed official would try to protect the children they were responsible for?
Real Americans don't sit back and wait for someone else to save them... They take action.

No, they shouldn't. The gop vilifies teachers and yet expects them to solve a problem the NRA backed gop has created. VERY hypocritical and ridiculous.
The far right gun advocates saying teachers should be armed are like scared little girls afraid that the govt. will barge in their homes and take all their guns. Their answer to out of control gun violence is more guns.
What the govt. should do it to take their assault weapons and high count magazines that are ONLY used to mow down large numbers of people. They're not used for hunting or anything else and a citizenry armed with guns like that is NOT what the founding fathers envisioned.
Anyone's right to own an assault weapon is far outweighed by every other person's right to go to the mall, go to church, send their children to school, or even stand on a street corner without fear of being blown away. The rights of the many for safety is much more important that the rights of the few who can't calm their fears without being armed to the teeth. We can do better.

In CT they had a principal and a psychologist who charged an armed shooter with no weapon at all, in a desperate attempt to stop him.
Yes, I believe that in every school, there are at least a few who would willingly carry them and have the guts to use them.

Hope hit the nail on the head. It doesn't matter whether those teachers or other officials would always aggressively and successfully stop the shooter. What does matter is that those who would do something would have the means to do so, and therefore would not be as helpless as the kids.

Very interesting question that will be hotly debated I'm sure.
In Texas teachers are allowed to but in most states, current gun laws would never allow it.

We will have turret systems next at the school gates with crackfire snipers aiming at everyone who approaches the school. The United States is turning into a communist nation scaring it's people to gain control over them.

Americans need to be able to have assault weapons to protect themselves from rioters and demonstrators.
They can get violent sometimes.

Like Obama, I'm VERY GLAD none of the several people who DID TRY to stop Lanza were armed.
No, I'm not, but Obama is.

There are trained policemen who would not knowingly go into that situation, that's why they have SWAT teams.
To think you could expect untrained teachers with a handgun to get a better result is assine.

It's obvious that you have never taken CCW training or even know very much about guns!
