It has taken a bit of a toll on me as well but I have prayed to overcome it.

It has certainly squelched the spirit of Christmas for Newtown, CT. I'm sure it has for many others as well. We can take comfort knowing that innocent children go immediately to heaven. We should pray for God to comfort the grieving parents. I know what it is like to lose a child. You feel like you have a hole in the middle of you that can never be filled.

For me, I just want everyone to shut the hell up about Connecticut. People suffer and die every day of the year. This story has been dragged on for long enough. It's sad, yes, but come on. Give it a rest. It's not like thousands of people do not suffer every single day.

I don't really see things that way.

Those kids, teachers, and whoever else would have all died of something else eventually. It sucks that they didn't get to reach an older age and do the things a lot of us enjoy doing, but we all die eventually anyway. They'll never feel pain again.

If I could have prevented it, I would have. But there's nothing I or anyone can do for them now.

For the families and friends of the dead, and let us not forget those children murdered on the same day in China - a total of 49 for the day, I believe - there will be YEARS of hardship and pain. We can only hope they reach out, and those who are close or know them will help in any way possible.

That is the point of the holidays. The winter holidays are about making (literal) light during a time of (literal) darkness. Now we have electric lights on strings and it takes almost no effort to create light in the winter, but we can still make (metaphorical) light during (metaphorical) darkness. That's what all these holidays are about. Every one of them.

Sad to relate, but provided it is happening to some one else, no tragedy, no matter how great, will prevent humanity from enjoying it's self.
