I easily were quilting for extra then 20 yrs. It takes three hundred money in fabrics, batting, backing and threads to finish a Queen length duvet. And as that different answer reported promote a large one for 30. there are basically some people prepared to pay you want the cover is properly worth. you'll do more advantageous making Tote bags, pocket books and jackets. have a glance at any duvet website or perhaps ebay. there is not sufficient purchasers. I do particular order quilts and Queen length is seven hundred and up yet earnings smart not counting labor i'm fortunate to scrub three hundred and it is a duvet it really is Hand quilted.

There would probably be a lot of fans or participants of various sports that would like *lap quilts* with sports themes.
Not sure though how many would like an entire covering for a bed that was sports-related (unless their spouse/partner also reeeally loves that sport, or they don't share a bed with anyone).
You might also consider making some of the quilts a little more subtle in colors, images, etc, so they'd be more acceptable on a couch or favorite chair *all the time* for other members of a household too.
If you do sports themes though, do be aware of the trouble you could get into by using a sports team's mascot or even its colors(s). Those things are usually "trademarked" by the owners/etc (so that they can make as much money from them as possible, though that does include selling the rights to use them for so-many items to some people/companies). You can read more about that in my answer below.**
Making quilts usually takes more supplies and person-hours than one can sell them for though so keep that in mind. Instead, you might also think about using sports themes for other kinds of items to sell where you could actually make more money with less time....things like hats, bags, throw pillows, garage-type aprons...or like containers (for holding coins, pencils, papers, etc), jewelry (most often for women), or other items.
If you're interested in making quilts in the simplest ways, etc, you might want to check out some of my previous answers about simplest patterns to use, the "quick turn" or inside-out method, tying quilts, etc:
