Doesn't it only stand to reason that the only balanced solution is a Balanced Budget Admendment for Obama?

We must spend less than we take in in order to bring down our debt. They are doing what they preach against us doing when we only make our minimum payment on our credit obligations. The scream at us that it is a losing battle we are fighting but they don't follow their own advice. The difference is their way of spending costs us our nation and our personal way of spending while not heeding their advice to pay more than the minimum payment and spend less than we make costs us our house, our car, and in some cases, our family and friends.

A balanced budget amendment is just not a good idea. For a number of reasons. The biggest being that the govt. has to be able to spend deficits in an emergency, or to stimulate the economy to get out of a recession. The Republicans pretend to believe that govt. spending can't stimulate the economy, but they spend money like water when they're in power. The problem is they spend huge deficits during -good- times so we don't have a cushion when we have a recession.

Also a balanced budget amendment has almost no chance of getting ratified. So politicians can speak out in favor of it, knowing it will never happen so they'll never have to deal with the consequences. And with this one too, it' mostly Republicans who do it. They only whine for a balanced budget amendment only when a Democrat is in the White House.

Years ago the Repubs passed a balanced budget bill, Gramm-Ruddman. It said that the budget must be balanced for ten years, then it would time out. But it allowed Congress to vote to remove the limit for one year in the case of 'emergency'. So guess what happened every single year for the next 10 years?

It's just too easy for a president of either party to spend us more into debt. He can take credit for stimulating the economy, but he knows that when the bill comes due he'll be safely out of office and it will be the headache of some new president. But the ONLY president in recent decades who really made progress on the budget was not a Republican, it was Bill Clinton. The Republicans fought him tooth and nail every step of the way! If Clinton had been president one more year, we would have had a balanced budget.

In fact, when GW Bush came in, all he would have had to do is sit on his hands and he could have taken credit for the first balanced budget since the 60s. But Bush simply could not wait to undo all of Clinton's good work. With what? Why a big tax cut for the rich, of course. Then he doubled the defense budget once again, and that's not counting two obscenely expensive wars which weren't even -on- the budget.

If anything has been made clear in the last 30 years it's that Republicans care about the budget only when they're out of power! 8^P

particular, however the sole project is that usa is per capitalism. the 2nd you place a fifty six% base tax fee, you fairly lots conserving your self socialist or a social welfare state on the least. which isn't a foul element, I help socialism. the two way if usa merely kinds out the project of great low company tax expenditures and loopholes the place agencies get money for shifting foreign places there could be no choose for for a improve on the earnings tax fee. I mean investigate New Zealand, our earnings tax fee is lesser than usa's yet our company tax fee is placed at a pragmatic fee. this sort we nonetheless be waiting to be a social welfare state with a functioning public healthcare equipment with out having to take a great form of money from the palms of the general public.

I agree only a Balance Budget Amendment would force him to actually reform the system.
