How long can I keep 5gallon of gas?

I have a 5 gallons of gas in a container, how long can I keep it outside ? And do I need to open the cap to let the fumes out in the cold ?

    if its below freezing it wont evaporate but about a year and they have fuel reconditioner that can make it usable again if older then a year

    today's gas goes bad in 3 months unless you add sta-bul to it and then your probably good for 6 months or a little longer.
