Armed security guards at schools why or why not?

Idiot yanks !! Is that freedom? WTF - kids from 5 having to go through metal detectors and have armed guards because their inbred parents believe all the rubbish their media feeds them? WAKE UP AMERICA!! You guys are too thick to survive...........

Let's look at some of the arguments against armed security guards in the schools:

1) The gunmen would just go somewhere else - in other words it would work. We'd actually be protecting our children during the time of the day when the government takes responsibility for their safety instead of parents.

2) We can't trust a security guard with a gun/they might go crazy. Well if that's true then we should get rid of police officers with guns, stop using armed guards at the airport, stop guarding the president with armed guards, and so on.

Also, in that case we should ban museum field trips that take kids to a museum where there are armed guards.

3) Having an armed guard in the schools would scare the kids. I highly doubt that. Regardless, an armed guard wouldn't have to be very visible to kids, they could spend most of their time watching security cameras if that proved to be an issue.

4) It wouldn't work. Well we don't really know whether or not it would work, because we haven't really tried it out. We haven't run any simulations, nor done any studies. What appears to be the case is that when confronted with a person with a gun, these people commit suicide. It also appears to be the case that these people target areas where nobody is armed because they want to kill as many people as they can before committing suicide. Logic tells us it would probably work.

As a society we seem to believe that it works at the airport, Congress, the White House, banks, warehouses, museums, and so on. This includes many places where children are often present. So the real question should be why are we NOT protecting our children with armed security guards?

I have a few theories on this:

1) That wouldn't help gun control advocates position. To me this seems to be the most likely reason.

2) Schools really don't have the knowledge or expertise to protect children. True, but there are companies that do, and there are government organizations that do.

3) Budget constraints. This is a lame excuse. Surely we can find money for protecting kids in the budget.

4) People thought school zone gun laws would work. Well apparently they haven't.

5) We don't value children as much as we do the President, money, goods, and adults. I really hope this isn't the reason.

In short, it appears that armed security guards would work, and the arguments against it are weak, not consistent with other choices we make, and political in nature.

When you outlaw guns - only criminals have guns

Do you see these nuts going into a police station and having a shootout

Not Hardly!!

You see these nuts going where they know there is no chance they will be opposed

They get to kill a lot of innocent people

And take the easy way out

Would they have the intestinal fortitude to walk into a place where there is every chance that 10 or more people have guns, and know how to use them?

No.. No in a hundred years

We are headed in the wrong direction

Don't take guns away

Let's put them out there

Permit open carry

Allow any adult to carry a weapon if it is carried exposed

Use them for what they are designed to do

Protect the innocent

In two years we will have solved the problem

Improved the breed

And created the most polite society in the world

It is the only way to insure this does not happen again. Someone has to be there to protect children. It is easy to blame a particular rifle or the number of rounds in a magazine. All the banning won't do anything about what is out there already so the best option is someone armed to use force. We rely on the police, the president relies on the secret service, let the children have an immediate protector as well trained as possible. I have no better solution.

I wouldn't trust any gun on a school campus; security guard or not.

Security guards in school is all based on fear and control.

What is to stop the security guard losing his marbles and going on a shooting spree himself?

i belive there should the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun

No because there is really no solution to the retardation of many Americans.

People with guns would just pick shopping malls or churches instead.
