Help my dog is sick what to do?

I adopted this dog from the pound last Friday. They said she had a bun leg. Took her to the vet this past Monday, .broken leg, parasites that started with a C, worms, and the mange that is hereditary and a calcium build from the leg repairing itself. Vet said that he was guna let it repair by itself. Ok we got medicines for everything she's taking them. Now she has developed this cough, I called the vet add the stupid lady that answered the phone wouldn't give me any help without bringing her in again. I get paid on Mondays so I won't have the money until then. And then they are not open again till Wednesday. My dog aint really eating, I'm getting her 5 n 1 shot tomorrow. I don't know what do I'm running the shower and taking her in there too breathe in the moist air because I don't have a humidifier. And giving cough syrup. I been giving her cough medicine One teaspoon for every 20 pounds. That's what google said. Google also said not to take her in unless her discharge is green or yellow, as long as it stays creme colored or clear... It also said that if it was kennel cough not to take her on till discharge changes. Please give up some remedies till I can get her to the vet.

Thanks you guys

Yes, that sounds like kennel cough but I don't claim to be a vet. The dosage of Robitussin DM is 0.5 - 1 ml every 12 hrs. You need to be very careful about what you give her. Every vet I have worked with recommends Robitussin DM. None of the other formulas. Some of the others contain ingredients that a dog should not be given.

You have the right idea about getting her to breathe humid air but a cool air vaporizer is best. Although the warm mist gives more immediate relief, it can actually contribute to the mucus membranes swelling.

The most important thing you can do right now is to ensure that she is getting plenty of fluids. Just like in humans, the fluids help thin the mucus. Don't try to force them but you can offer her chicken broth or watered down canned food. Always keep a bowl of fresh water nearby.

She should not be vaccinated till she is over the kennel cough.

You adopted a wreck of a dog & I appreciate that you are hanging in there with her. She will appreciate you for it, too. Many people would have taken her back. She would not have stood a chance there. I'm guessing the other parasite she has is coccidia. None of the things she has should be unbeatable with proper care & it sounds like you are doing a great job!

Did you hear all the things this dog is already being treated for??? NO ONE adopts a dog expecting to have to have to invest a ton into it right away. If the only people that adopted were the ones with thousands banked there would be a lot more than the current 4 million killed each year. Get real & get off that high horse! Do you own a pet? Do you have thousands banked?

If the pound was going to care for he she would not have been sitting with a broken leg & full of parasites!

There is no cure for kennel cough anyways. The symptoms can be treated but it is a virus & needs to run it's course.

It relies upon on the placement. If the canine is whelping a muddle of puppies or a cat has a sprint diarhhea then the 1st decision would be to guard it at domicile to be sure if the placement gets extra valuable. And jointly as waiting human beings can ask different puppy proprietors in the event that they have any techniques on a thank you to handle the subject and ask for regular advice. If it does not get extra valuable then the subsequent decision is the vet. some human beings do have some hum dingers at here, yet for the main area the questions are solid, valid ones.

First off I would notify the pound and have them pick up the vet bills. You should have gotten a healthy dog!

2nd The vet should not vaccinate a sick dog! And the pound should have turned the dog over to you with up-to-date worming and vaccinations.

3rd I think you are dealing with Kennel Cough. Most of the time it will run it's course but your dog appears to be immune compromised with all the other problems. I would use your vaccination appointment for a respiratory visit.

AND I would still raise cane with the pound and have them pay the vet bills until this dog is healthy esp if you paid any sort of adoption fees.

You should have never gotten the dog if you can't afford one.

Stop giving the dog human meds and surrender it since you can't care of it properly. Its not fair that you 'cant' afford a vet' until Monday and the dog has to suffer until then
