Do you ever give money or food to the homeless or the person with a sign on the street?

I was a little saddened to see a guy with a sign that read.... unemployed veteran needs money. That in itself was sad, but... he was nicely dressed, clean and.... found a nice spot that was well traveled... and is seen there on a pretty regular basis.

I keep wondering why he wasn't at a job place that offers daily jobs with daily pay and how this guy managed to get to that same spot all the time..... and why he wasn't at least offering to work for money. Deep down, I also wonder if he thought saying he was a veteran would benefit him. He wasn't old and didn't look to be down on his luck at all.

Then, I see another guy at a spot not too well traveled. He is holding a sign that says... will work for food or money. That is all it says. He isn't dressed much different than many other people, but looks a little worse for wear.

Are either of these people actually homeless? I don't know.

The thing is... you don't need to be homeless for me to help you. I'd gladly help anyone who needs it. I have done so before and will again.

Sometimes. I live in the city, so I see it a lot.

One thing people must understand is that homeless people do have some income and usually have a place to stay. A lot of them spend the money on drugs or tobacco or alcohol, and it's really sad because they were raised where they had no shot at having a normal life.

But some people lie. There's this dude that rides public transit all over, gets on the train, cries, acts embarrassed, and says his dad is some alcoholic who beats him and all he wants is a train ticket to a nearby suburb to live with his cousin. It's a total act. I've seen him twice and I looked it up, and he does this commonly to get money out of non-regulars.

I'm a college student though. I don't have that much money. However, occasionally I will. Last week, I was going to Subway and I bought an extra six inch sub for a homeless guy on the street. Should have taken him inside and eaten with him, but I don't have the guts to do that. I think food is always the best option though. But we have to be the judge, and no one should be obligated.

Yes, I have. I had gone to Mc D's and as I got close to home there was this homeless guy there. I put down the window and handed him the whole bag. Food for three. I then just left and went home to make dinner.

Once I had cash to spare, sure.... Traditionally i'd supply meals. Every time i would be leaving a cafe with my doggy bag, i might supply it to a homeless man or woman. I admire how humans claim to understand about the homeless, yet have on no account virtually spoken with one... Let on my own deal with them like a individual.

Sure, if I got it. A couple bucks don't mean nothing to me but for them they can eat or get drunk whatever, I dont care. That's what giving is about, it ain't about their going to do with it, it's about sharing.

No, I do not because they would probably spend it on something bad like drugs or alcohol. If you are going to give them something, give them food or clothes.

No, why should I support a bum's drug habbit. They probably get a check from the government every month anyway. F*ck em.
