What is wrong with the search engines these days?

Question

Half the time my search engines don't find sites that are easy to find and most of the time they don't seem to even search for them.  And the sites that are hard to find?  Ha!  They might as well not even exist.  I don't know whether it is my browser, or the navigation sites or the websites themselves that are the problem.  If I know a URL sometimes I can go to the sites that way.  Even my bookmarks are unreliable.  What on earth is happening?

Stop being so finical, 20 years ago the web barely existed. Now it is easy to learn and research anything.

At xmas (from end of November till January) search engines send the traffic where they can make more money and that's why the search results are traditionally very bad and unreliable.

Tip: try Startpage for better results.

yep they give 4 or 5 sponsored links trying to sell you stuff first, then it seems to be a whole bunch of personal and group blogs that just have at least one of your search terms, like say you put in"get football schedule for green bay packers" what you get is a bunch of stuff like 'schedule flights to nfl games" and "green power usage becoming part of public buildings"

To get to the site for scheduling, you have to know the address.sometimes mine will not even go to my school's online forum which is bad.

I believe this is all harbinger to a pay-per use fee being incorporated into dns, where you can have sites or PREMIUM sites which would mean Facebook, Yahoo, My Space, YouTube, etc. they are not able to do that with private sites, or with my school because the majority of styudents are military vets and finanial aid loans.

It may be caused by the many cookies that load every time you search.
Somehow you are redirected,which is common.Check to see whether or not 
your browser has been hijacked.
