What's the best option for paying cash for a used car?

I'm looking to spend $1000 or less. I've looked at Craigslist, eBay motors and Auto Trader. Any other suggestions?

I hope you're not expecting to find much for less than a thousand dollars. Most cars that sell for that cheap aren't even worth advertising. These are the cars that you find parked along the street with a "for sale" sign stuck in the back window, and may not be in running condition.

    Good Luck with that.

notice boards in local supermarket often have cheap motors, with ebay you can search for cars under a $1000 and have the results appear by closest first. as you can with autotrader
