Why is this GOP Congressman saying there is a Continuing Dumbing down of Republican Party?

The collapse of Boehner's tax effort "weakens the entire Republican Party," said Republican Rep. Steve LaTourette of Ohio, who is retiring after 18 years.

"It's the continuing dumbing down of the Republican Party," he said, "and we are going to be seen more and more ******as a bunch of extremists******* that can't even get a majority of our own people to support policies that we're putting forward. If you're not a governing majority, you're not going to be a majority very long."

Republican consultant and writer Craig Shirley told The Washington Post: "The national GOP is now simply a collection of warring tribal factions."

Democrats this year won more House votes nationwide than Republicans did. Republicans kept their majority because Republican-controlled state legislatures in some key states were able to shape the boundaries of congressional districts in a partisan manner to concentrate Democratic voters in a few districts while maximizing Republican strength in others.

Why don't these Republicans that finally get religion come out before they are going to retire ? They always speak up on the way out the door. And while they are stating facts. Why now? Why not all along? Its cowardice in my opinion. Just the same. Im glad he spoke up.

The problem is we now have Progressives in both parties, not just Democrats. Naturally those Republicans don't run as Progressives. That group is melding into creating one party. The conservatives are trying to preserve what is left of the United States trying to avoid the "fundamental transformation".

Bush was a progressive and so was his father. Bush the younger started a whole new welfare program with his tax cuts on the lowest tier even though he is blamed for crashing the economy because his tax rates were considered too low by the left. Now all the left wants to keep the low tax rates on all but the "wealthy". Those tax cuts would work well in an expanding economy in the private sector but Obama wants a welfare state and to run the whole show. I'm not sure who will win this battle but it is a battle for the life of this nation. You make it about party. Its much more than that.

I don't think we're just dumbing down the Republican party. We're trying to dumb down America in general and it's working!

It is nice to see one side admitting to it. I wonder when Democrats will come out and admit it as well?
