Wayne La Pierre of the NRA says to put armed guards in schools now.?
Would a $100 tax on guns and a $1 tax per bullet pay for this since the taxpayer shouldn't have to. People who drive pay gas taxes so people with guns should pay for guards. The 2 armed guards at Columbine didn't do much good at stopping the shooting.
I remember Columbine happening and thinking, "This will never happen again." Nothing was done or is being done to stop these crazies with guns. What have we, as Americans, become?
Mopar Mike - How much did W waste on war for oil. I wouldn't be calling libs freespanders when you guys have Reagan and the Bushes.
Peace - Force; Wrong contard.
National Rifle Association president Wayne LaPierre stood before national media Friday morning and called for armed guards at schools across the country as the only effective preventative measure stopping school shootings like the one that occurred last week in Newtown, Conn.
"I call on Congress today to act immediately, to appropriate whatever is necessary to put armed police officers in every school — and to do it now, to make sure that blanket of safety is in place when our children return to school in January."
Unfortunately for LaPierre, two disastrous examples directly contradict his position.
On April 20, 1999, Columbine High School had an armed guard--Sheriff's Deputy Neil Gardner on duty on campus. Although Gardner was on duty (he was eating lunch when the shooting started), Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were able to kill 12 students and a teacher, and wound 21 others and before committing suicide.

Right on. It's about time gun nuts start paying for the carnage they cause. Hunting weapons and ammo should be exempted.

How about each school fire one bureaucrat and hire one security guard?
You may recall that schools have a lot of overhead personnel. i think we could do without some of them. And if they dumped the Teacher's union, can you imagine how much (union dues) money would be freed up for things like armed guards?
I realize such thinking goes completely against the Liberal philosophy and the Democratic Party would not be the recipient of all that vast amount of money which teacher's unions contribute. But security guards would do more good.
So you have a choice Mr Turn Left: continue the current policy of allowing teacher's unions to buy votes and politicians or devote that money toward something more productive.
Do it for the children ;)
EDIT: And while we are looking for cost-effective solutions, here's one which wouldn't cost a dime. Quit having school zones being gun-free zones. That way, many of the parents coming and going from the school all day long who have concealed pistol permits would be able to have the right tools for the job of dealing with criminals.

Many schools in the US have police officers assigned to them aren't they the same as armed guards.....
In a not perfect world only the good guys would turn in their guns and we would be helpless and at the
mercy of the bad guys.Too bad we will never know if a police officer was assigned to that school how many lives could he have saved. Drugs and drunk driving have been against the law for years and that does not help.
We could use the money we give to countries that hate us,our children are more important!!

Here is what is really asinine. Since the 80s school shootings have gone down. Since the 90s violent crime has gone down. What happen in Connecticut was very tragic, but due to one very rare event that unfortunately happens we can't just live in fear, and raise our kids out of fear, by placing arm guards in schools or giving them bullet proof backpacks. While I feel that we can train select teachers to possess weapons for something like this putting guards is one step closer to creating a police state where the government is putting a guard in every street corner.
Overall though, we can't live in fear. As mentioned before things are getting better and would continue to do so if we get the economy better (a huge reason for all these shootings is probably because of a bad economy, thanks Obama).

With those taxes you're listing. What are you trying to pay off the national debt ? I wouldn't require that much. 5 billion would put a security guard in every school. Obama wasted 90 billion on green energy companies that did nothing to move us towards energy independence and creating jobs.
I think we could afford 5 billion considering the money liberals have wasted money on.

curiously not and in the event that they do, they gained't tell. #18.of the 23 products he signed on Wednesday.. "grant incentives for faculties to hire college source officers." he's actual that armed guards will possibly not have prevented the shootings, yet he on no account pronounced that colleges ought to not have armed guards.

1) It doesn't cost ANYTHING to simply ALLOW people who already CAN'T BE EMPLOYED IN THE SCHOOL without criminal history and abuse clearances to be armed.
2) The guards at Columbine were UNARMED - just how Democrats wanted them to be.
3) The WORLD-record body count by a well-armed attacker in the presence of EVEN ONE lawfully armed civilian is SIX dead. The average is TWO and the minimum is ZERO.
4) For well-armed attacks in venues like YOU want YOUR kids to be in, the RECORD is 44 dead, the AVERAGE is 18 dead and the MINIMUM is 5 dead.
5) Venues where "no guns are allowed" are 400% MORE LIKELY to be attacked. Add that to the average death-toll being NINE TIMES HIGHER and explain to your kids why you PREFER that for THEIR school.

Putting kids in a gun free zone didn't work too well because the only people who obeyed the law are law abiding.

Not even Fort Hood did any good at stopping the shootings and the Fort is heavily armed.

How about instead of handing away billions of dollars per year to these $hithole countries that don't give a $hit about us, we put it towards this?
It's worth a try. Concealed carry has worked out well in many states that have tried it.
