amd a6 3650 vs a6 5600k?

This confuses me. According to cpubenchmark.net:

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php

The AMD a6-5600k performs significantly WORSE than the a6-3650, despite that the 3650 is previous generation and is based on the old Llano architecture (and runs at a lower clock speed).

Why is this? It doesn't make sense. Is real-world performance better?

I is confuse.

I'm unfortunately not 100% sure about the specific CPUs you mentioned, as i don't follow AMD CPUs very closely, but I would advise you not to put too much trust in passmark benchmarks. They're very frequently inaccurate; for a long time they had the GTX580 ahead of the 680 on rankings, which is incredibly stupid and false, much like I would suspect is the case with your question. AMD knows what they're doing, better than some benchmark publisher

I suspect the reason the ranks are always so inaccurate is because it's all crowdsourced data. I don't think they actually do much benchmarking themselves, but rather harvest data from other people(who may not know what they're doing), average it, and publish results. If somebody's case is filled with dust, their benchmark will rank lower, or if they've got prime95 running in the background as well at the passmark thing, that will screw things up as well.

basically, passmark is terrible, and I wouldn't trust it.

Edit: I actually just checked again, and it has the GTX690 ranked lower than the 680. For reference to two terrible their rankings are, the 690 is literally just a card with 2 680 processors on it, so it's nearly exactly 2x as powerful.

That llano was quad core and was pitched at a higher price point than the current a-6, which is a dual core. The real equivalent trinity chip to compare with is the a-8.

That's exactly why it's worse... it's a previous generation. It's older. Technology is advancing so fast. If you buy the best processor today, 6 months from now it's outclassed. It doesn't mean it's still useless, but it will no longer be the top.
