If banning guns is the question, what happens when there is an increase in stabbings?

For years common household knives were the most common weapon used for murder in the U.S. When the campaign to disarm the people started getting scared that they were loosing ground, the way the statistics are presented and knives are no longer itemized. They fall under "unspecified other" as a means of death. Also, since automobile deaths are so very high and at least 15% of them are intentional, ALL motor vehicle deaths are recorded as unintentional.
The way the data are manipulated is shameful. I wonder if the mendacious media realize that after they succeed in killing the Second Amendment, the First Amendment will follow quickly along with the Fourth.

Just look at the U.K.
It didn't take long -- less than 10 years -- after banning gun possession for the British government and the nanny-state socialist to claim there was a dangerous "knife culture" in Britain. Now an inventor has created a knife that you cannot use to stab someone. It has a blade, but at the end there is a large round protuberance above the end of the blade that makes it "stab proof". Some people are calling for a law mandating the sale of these knives to replace everything from steak knives to outdoors knives.
No doubt the same would happen here, except you'd need to register all your steak knives and other pointy knives, keep them locked in a safe and be subjected to a fine or prison if a child obtained them and sliced his pinkie finger.

That's where the whole debate goes sideways so inevitably the end result is nothing ever gets accomplished.
Interesting stat about homicides by country:
A Canadian citizen is more likely to be stabbed by a friend.
A US citizen is more likely to be shot by a stranger.
The same weapon used in the Colorado theatre shootings is available in Canada.
What gets missed is Canadians don't go around mass-stabbing or shooting.
You are bang-on right, it isn't so much about guns as it is cultures and societies... with many in the USA believing the solution is armed guards at schools and like in Texas, armed teachers with concealed weapons.
[how that will stop mall and church and theatre shootings I'm not sure]
All the power to them and their guns, said most sincerely.
I just happen to be glad I don't live in a country that needs to protect our own schools from my own fellow citizens.
It's not about guns, it's about mindsets.
You might not like what you hear - but it is deadly accurate.

Then we must ban knives.
After knives are banned what happens when there is an increase of killings by blunt objects?
EDIT: YOU DON'T NEED A FIREARM TO DO MASS MURDERS:
BEIJING -- A knife-wielding man slashed 22 children and an adult at an elementary school in central China on Friday, state media reported, the latest in a series of attacks on children in the country. (http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/12/14/1590...
China's state-run news agency Xinhua said in a report that a 35-year-old-man suddenly went on a stabbing rampage on Friday, inflicting cuts and bruises on 23 residents--22 of which are students aged 8 to 12 years old on their way to school.(http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/415745/20121217/ada...

Conn. has gun bans, so does N.Y., and the gun violence is ever increasing in those states. The highest rate of gun ownership in the U.S. is in the same state with the lowest rate of gun violence. North Dakota. Could it be that the people who have been attacking the Bill of Rights for the past 50 years are wrong? And more than somewhat stupid?

The better question is, what happens when there is an increase in shootings AFTER a gun ban? It will happen.

The vast majority of stabbing victims survive, whereas the vast majority of people who suffer gunshot wounds die....so the ACCURATE answer your question is "the world gets more crowded"...
Let's have a war
We need the space
Let's have a war
Clean out this place...

They are very different things, in one you can stand at a distance, never getting close to your target, but for a stabbing you risk yourself by getting up close, its a more personal way to kill or harm.

Remove all knives from households and force people to use spatulas to compensate. It's the only way to ensure safety.
