My wifi only works in the room which the router is in?
I just got a new laptop but the wifi only works in the room which the router is in. When i go to my room the laptop is connected to the internet but when i try to open a website it keeps loading and doesn't work. I tried to change the channel of the router but it still didn't work. There is a cordless phone beside the router but even after I removed it the internet still didnt work. Could it be because the router is beside the wall? Or is there something wrong with the laptop?
My old laptop worked fine with a good signal exactly where I am using the new laptop and even the new laptop have a good signal but it just doesnt work.

There could be several things causing this to happen.
If the cordless phone next to the router is a part of a larger phone system and not a base station, then you will need to turn off the base station for the system in order to see if that is what is interfering.
2.4GHZ and 5GHZ cordless phones are known to interfere with wireless internet connectivity.
If you live in a home that has a lot of concrete or brick, that will degrade a wireless signal.
You might try relocating the wireless router to see if that helps as well. Good luck.

If the only value you noticed that makes it not work is distance then:
- your router might have an "extended distance" mode turned off
- Adevice such as: cordless phone (like you mentionned), microwave, walkie talkie, etc, can completly kill wi-fi signal
-your pc's network card is faulty.
the issue with pages not loading while connected to the internet looks liek a DNS issue tho, if there is a modem in your setup before the router and you just plugged in the new router, that modem will need to be reset so that everything starts working.

It depends on how far the wireless router reaches.
