If I were to create a psuedo-religion...?

And use it against the government, what would happen?

I mean Christians (not all ofcourse) are oppressing gays.

Sorry, Can't pay sales tax, it's a sin!

Jury duty, I have to go to church, it's against my religion to skip once.

Can I use it for selfish purposes like that? What would happen...? They can't define my religion as not a religion, can they?

Update:

What would be the steps to turn it into an established religion, just get a church and some followers?

if you are talking about the United States, then you are out of luck. Religious organizations don't get any special rights or considerations beyond what any non-profit enjoys. if you fail to report your tax information you will lose non-profit status pronto. non-profits are not allowed to lobby the government or participate in politics. as to jury duty, if you can convince the judge that you are wacko, you might get a break, but if he thinks you are faking, you will be the one going to jail.

there is no reason to define an organization as a "religion" or not. scientology is a good example, is it a religion or a self-help club, and where would it matter. In some European countries, religion requires registration causing scientology to run afoul of the law. but here you can believe in pasta without persecution.

Are all the founders of faiths as cynical as thou? I often wonder. Anyways, it would ultimately depend on how successful your pseudo religion became. Not supporting the state's a big problem, the only reason the Protestants became successful in the first place was by Luther saying that when a prince converts so does his principality making all of the last guy's stuff forfeit, meaning the Catholic church's holdings were yours should you see the light. Ultimately I suppose it would come down to how openly you opposed the state at every turn, go too far & there'd be laws passed against you, like other ideologies advocating the overthrow of the state, or you'd be declared a terrorist like those who oppose the fur industry or want to save trees.

A few years ago George W Bush expressed an opinion that "Creationism should be taught as an alternative to the scientific Theory, as it was equally valid." after a Kansas State Education Board decision to allow the teaching of "creationist theory"

Bobby Henderson promptly founded the Church of The Flying Spaghetti Monster ( http://www.venganza.org/ ) and demanded the FSM creation story be taught as an "alternative" in American Public schools... talk of teaching creationism using tax-payer dollars quickly faded, but the FSM (May Pesto Be Upon His Noodly Appendages!) lives on!

In America, you're free to start a new religion if you want, but you still have to obey the laws. You'll still be required to pay taxes and do jury duty.

The religion you site must be an established religion so no. However, there are many to chose from and if you research the various writings, you may find something that will help you out.
