Why doesn't America try removing all gun control laws like they did in Detroit?

Many schools in the US have police officers assigned to them aren't they the same as armed guards.....

In a not perfect world only the good guys would turn in their guns and we would be helpless and at the

mercy of the bad guys.Too bad we will never know if a police officer was assigned to that school how many lives could he have saved. Drugs and drunk driving have been against the law for years and that does not help.

We could use the money we give to countries that hate us,our children are more important!!

Frank and CookieThief are right. Guns in the hands of ordinary citizens may cause more crime and cause more damge than they prevent. Why? Because of lack of extensive training such as the police or the military. The police and military have trained extensively with weapons. They are more likely to know when and under which circumstances to use their weapons than the average citizen.

Detroit's gun laws just recently changed for the better. You have to give them more time. It probably still looks like a demilitarized zone.

More guns = Less crime

Are you implying that guns stop crime? Pft.
